This manual serves the Research Section Executive Board and committee members as a working guide to the policies and procedures of the Section. It is an important orientation and reference tool for incoming and current officers and committee chairs.

In addition, officers and committee chairs should use the MLA Manual for Section Chairs, annual meeting planning communications, the MLA Finance Manual, and other appropriate MLA documents. Many documents for governance of the section are on the Research Section Website and linked from here to there.

The Immediate Past Chair is responsible for maintaining this manual. Officers and committee chairs should use this wiki o make any necessary changes. During any year, these policies and procedures, except when mandated by the Bylaws, may be changed by the Chair or by the Executive Board.

This manual was developed in this wiki by Rosalind Dudden starting in September, 2008. It is revised by all members of the Executive Committee on an as needed basis.
