Committees: Awards:Organizes the reviewing of research papers and poster at the MLA annual meeting; selects judges who recommend awards; Makes awards for the national meeting.
Bylaws: Reviews the Research Section Bylaws and recommends changes as needed for the effective functioning of the section.
Continuing Education: Assesses the needs of Research Section members; supports and develops CE opportunities; links with MLA CE Committee and other national committees as appropriate; develops a research skills program.
Membership: Promotes membership in the Section and in MLA and monitors members expectations.
Nominating:Finds and nominated candidates for the election slate of the section.
Program Year 2010:
Assist the Chair-Elect/Program Chair with planning and coordinating the Research Section 2010 educational and social programs inWashington, D.C.
Research Agenda:At the request of the MLA Board, survey the section to ascertain what topics are appropriate when considering awarding funds from the Association.
Task Forces and Boards:Research Mentoring Program Planning Task Force:Formed in 2009, this task force is developing a research mentoring program to coordinate with the MLA Mentoring program and publicize its programs. New members are welcome.
Editorial Board of the Hypothesis:
The Hypothesis has an Editorial Board which assist the editors in developing articles for the newsletter.
Ad Hoc Strategic Planning Committee:A strategic planning committee has been formed for 2010 and will be writing a plan and making recommendations for the future of the section.
